Engineering Tomorrow talks are a global series of conferences with the most brilliant talkers and visionaries as speakers, who will present innovative concepts of intelligent buildings of the future and a lot more. Kjell H. Strøm is a global Sales and Marketing leader with experience from numerous industries including high-tech, retail, telecom and industrial goods. Having lived and worked outside of Scandinavia for 20 years, Kjell H. Strøm has extensive knowledge and experience of leading a global, multi-cultural business. Before joining Danfoss in 2014 as the Global Vice President Sales & Marketing for the Cooling business, he worked with Roland Berger and Hewlett Packard. In 2016, he was appointed head of the Global Sales & Marketing Board to accelerate the Danfoss business growth and to lead the digital transformation. Kjell H. Strøm holds an MBA from Duke University, USA and a BA from Webster University, Switzerland.

Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy for All, and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for SEforALL All

Rachel Kyte is a leading advocate for sustainable development and drives SEforALL’s work to mobilize action towards its 2030 goals on universal energy access, energy efficiency and renewable energy. As SRSG, she is the UN point person for the global goal on sustainable energy.

Until December 2015 Rachel Kyte served as World Bank Group Vice President and Special Envoy for Climate Change, leading integration of climate across the Bank Group’s work as well as support for an ambitious agreement at the 21st Convention of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 21). She was previously World Bank Vice President for Sustainable Development and was the International Finance Corporation Vice President for Business Advisory Services.

A recipient of numerous awards for leadership for climate action and sustainable development, she is a Professor of practice in sustainable development at Tufts’ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Denis Urubko

Conqueror of all 14 eight-thousanders

Denis Urubko is a mountaineer, the 15th person to climb all 14 eight-thousanders and the 8th person to achieve the feat without the use of supplementary oxygen. He has climbed two 8,000 metre peaks in winter. Makalu in 2009 together with Simone Moro and Gasherbrum II in 2011 together with Cory Richards and again Simone Moro. He has also opened new routes on Cho Oyu, Manaslu and Broad Peak. All together he has 19 ascents of 8,000 metre peaks. He is also a "Snow Leopard" having summited the five 7,000 metre peaks of the former USSR in only 42 days in 1999. On March 7th, 2018, Urubko ruturned from Polish winter expedition on K2 in 2017/2018. K2 remains unclimbed in winter.

Stanislav Frnka is Chief Executive Officer of HB Reavis Poland, responsible for overall business management and development across the Polish market. He was appointed to his current position in 2011, coinciding with the launch of Konstruktorska Business Center, HB Reavis’ first investment in Poland. Stanislav has been with HB Reavis Group since 2006, initially responsible for acquisitions in the CEE region (Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Ukraine and Poland). Prior to joining HB Reavis, Stanislav worked at Benefit Finance, a Slovak consulting firm specialising in M&A activity. Serving as a financial analyst there he was responsible for selling off non-performing loans of the Slovak Consolidation Agency (€1bn) and the National Property Fund of the Slovak Republic (€360m). Stanislav Frnka graduated from City University of Seattle in Trencin, Slovakia in 1999, where he majored in business management.

With over thirty-five years of experience in the creative industries and technology startups, Ralph Talmont combines exhaustive understanding of the creative process with deep insights into the world of technology. As a sensemaker, he bridges the digital divide for companies and teams in transition. Over a long career in multimodal communications, Ralph has made retail multimedia products, designed music packaging, produced marketing communications for global hotels and resorts, directed documentary videos and staged collaborative arts events.

Ralph has spoken and written extensively about creativity, digital transformation, technology and design and regularly contributes to media, design and innovation events. He is a guest lecturer at Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts School of Design, a co-founder of Seriatim Foundation (an NGO which helps people improve their communication skills) and a mentor for the Founder Institute and PwC’s Startup Collider.

He is the curator and Team Leader for TEDxWarsaw (including TEDxWarsawPresidentialPalace, the fi rst TEDx in the World to be opened by a sitting head of state,) and a TEDxSeniorAmbassador for Eastern Europe.

Katarzyna Zawodna-Bijoch as President and CEO at Skanska’s commercial development unit in CEE is responsible for the company’s strategy and operations in the area of innovative office investments in four rapidly-developing markets: Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary.

During Katarzyna’s term, Skanska’s CEE unit beats its own office space leasing records year to year. In 2017 the volume reached 145,000 sqm in 10 CEE markets, a 10% increase YOY. Last year the company sold 7 buildings for over EUR 360 million, had 350,000 sqm in 17 ongoing projects, and delivered 5 projects with a total of almost 86,000 sqm. Under her leadership the CEE unit took breakthrough decisions which will set new standards of how the offices of the future will look like. Skanska will be the first developer worldwide to cover buildings with semi-transparent perovskite solar cells on a commercial scale. It is a significant milestone towards zero-energy and carbon neutral office buildings. Skanska also invested in Poland's biggest co-working chain – Business Link. With its expansion plan into 10 Skanska’s office buildings across CEE in coming years, the company has a chance to become the biggest network of its kind in Europe and second globally. Skanska in CEE also implemented WELL Building Standard in the projects to help their tenants to unlock human potential in buildings.

Katarzyna Zawodna-Bijoch graduated from The Warsaw School of Economics. In addition, she also holds the title of LEED Accredited Professional.

Director, MIT Senseable City Lab Founding Partner, Carlo Ratti Associati

An architect and engineer by training, Professor Carlo Ratti teaches at MIT, where he directs the Senseable City Laboratory, and is a founding partner of the international design and innovation practice Carlo Ratti Associati. A leading voice in the debate on new technologies’ impact on urban life, his work has been exhibited in several venues worldwide, including the Venice Biennale, New York’s MoMA, London’s Science Museum, and Barcelona’s Design Museum. Two of his projects – the Digital Water Pavilion and the Copenhagen Wheel – were hailed by Time Magazine as ‘Best Inventions of the Year’. He has been included in Wired Magazine’s ‘Smart List: 50 people who will change the world’. He is currently serving as co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cities and Urbanization, and as special advisor on Urban Innovation to the European Commission.

Philosopher and artificial intelligence expert

PhD in philosophy of artificial intelligence, Assistant Professor at Kozminski University, currently Research Fellow at the Center for Collective Intelligence at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.

Recent visiting scholar at The New School for Social Research/ Brown University in New York City (2014). In 2011 Aleksandra worked as the Chairman of Media Regulation Working Party at the Council of European Union in Brussels. As a William J. Fulbright Scholar Aleksandra also majored in Sociology at The New School for Social Research in New York (2012), where she participated in research on identity in virtual reality, with particular emphasis on Second Life.

Aleksandra’s current primary research interest include consequences of introducing artificial intelligence systems to people’s social and professional sphere as well as wearable technologies and human/bot interaction.

Waldemar Olbryk

Member of the Board responsible for the residential market in Echo Investment

Member of the Board at Echo Investment S.A. since 1 August, 2017, responsible for the residential building construction business. He is a graduate from the University of Lodz’s Management and International Trade Faculty as well as MBA studies at the Faculty of Management at Robert H. Smith’s University in Maryland. Mr Olbryk has gained his professional experience, among others, in the department of investment and maintenance at BP Poland (British Petroleum), while working for Apsys Poland on the construction of Manufaktura in Lodz, leading the European Service Centre project for Philips Poland and on the position of the President of the Board at Skanska Property Poland. He is a member of RSA (Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) and the originator as well as a co-creator of the debates among artists, businesspeople and academics organised in the framework of the SOUNDEDIT 2017 festival in Lodz.
